PPC Parents Meeting

- Treasurer- We have $1000 from region for new x-country jumps. Banquet broke even. Lessons breaking even
- Move forward on building x-country jumps-okay with Mike Rubin. Ellen ask farmer for 50’ perimeter and low crop. Use whole property for the run. Jump possibilities: one at Seneca-flat fence, trips up horses everytime. Ellen saw a challenge jump, an arrowhead jump, a precision jump. We need to have a special meeting/committee to design jumps and course.
- Schedule: x country field days slotted. Elizabeth put front page on website as a heads up. Lessons on website, voted to put kids names on time slots of lessons so you can check website for lesson times. Need to keep checking website for information and educate members to use. Horse Management seminar on 2/25. April 29th: Spring Horse Show, need a subcommittee.
- Committees: focus on spreading out committees to all members (eg: Dee is on 5!). We started filling slots at our sponsor meeting but things and situations have changed so need to re-address. Laura- membership. Diana-2007 banquet. Monthly meetings-2 man job- Roberta eg: trail rides, tack shops, feed mills, etc. Elizabeth said clubs surveyed and overall kids wanted to do more together as a club. Some clubs do things together (eg: Seneca and PPC) Monthly meetings an important component. Our club monthly meetings, waned, we are trying to bring back. Asked should lesson programs be split by discipline? Club said yes. Dressage, x-country, etc. Ellen talked to an instructor about x-country schooling. Frederick had ladies at clinic for free. Games-Dee ask Carol Danforth. Fox Hunting-Julie. Ratings and Preps-finding people for ratings/preps. Dee Dougherty could do some preps or maybe Kelly Dougherty. We have 4/5 D3’s rating, 2/3 D2’s and some unrateds. Thirteen kids rating this spring. Elizabeth doing ratings and preps. Field Maintenance- open. Fundraising- Ellen and Margaret. Spring/Fall Shows, Ellen looking for committee members. X-country Schooling Days, Show Jump Program- open. Need flier for quiz for spring horse show, use old flier. Put add in Equiery. Rally coordinator-Kathleen. Southern States-Laura. D Camp, Day camp-Julie, need someone else. Embroidery-Julie. Field Maintenance-Dee + other. Blue Ribbon Café-Julie, Laurel. Show Jumping-need. Dressage Day- Diana and Margaret. Ribbons/awards-need. Fun Day Rally-Marie + other. Insurance-Marie and Brenda. Poolesville Day-need. Sunshine Committee-need.
- Sending out email reminding people to check website for info updates.
- Need to fix kits before games rally-important-could be a monthly meeting.
- Roberta-3/17-Equine Medical in Leesburg- a free tour (canceled due to EHV outbreak-to be rescheduled)
- Vaulting-visit Francie on Sundays at Great and Small
- Tetrathalon demo maybe in future
- D Camp-do we want to do it? A couple of groups based on ability, older kids (C’s) counselors. Ideas: mock trailer like rally/knowledge. Scavenger hunts, demonstrations, crafts, trail ride, ice cream truck! Maybe an overnighter and send ponies home. Need to put D camp on schedule. Float some dates: July 10-12; or July 17-19. Will be a cheap camp, like $150
- Field Maintenance Days: Our field used for regional ratings and preps, need to make sure doesn’t interfere with our shows. How do we shut down the field and when? Rings and x-country need to be preserved. Push-in signs to close jumps. Make our big ring a show jump and dressage ring. 22nd-a rating for region-open or close? 28th-Capital Region C3 rating, -close? 29th-our show. Work Days-March 25th 9:00 am. April 22nd 9:00 am. The growing jump by the Garden Club needs wooden gates or poles. Dee said she has poles.
- Quiz Rally-Make a donation for silent auction-what should we donate-“a bucket full of talent from PPC” A craft for rally-Roberta found horse charms.
- Lesson policy- read our policy, will print off and mail. Important people know we have tried endless variations on making lesson policy fair.
