PPC Hosts Capital Region Polocrosse Rally
On November 6th, 2005 the Potomac Pony Club hosted the Capital Region Polocrosse Rally at the Potomac Pony Club Field in Boyds, Maryland. Two teams competed in the Advanced Division, three teams in the Intermediate Horse Division and two teams in the Walk/Trot Division. The weather was beautiful and the teams were very competitive. It was a great day to see the speed and precision of the Advanced riders, the spirit and competiveness of the Intermediates and the enthusiasm and persistence of the up and coming Walk/Trot Division. Results of the day are as follows:
Advanced Horse Division Rebels and a Yank: 1st Place HM, 1st Team Overall - qualified for Nationals!!!
Lizzie C. on a scramble Team
Intermediate Horse Division Nick w/ Chix: 1st Place HM, 1st Place Team Overall - qualified for Nationals!!!
Members: Nick, Emily B. Shannon (Captain)
Walk/Trot Division Potomac Seahorses: 2nd Place HM, 2nd Place Overall
Members: Emily J. (Captain), Emma, Colleen (SM)
Thanks to the Cook family, Laura Molskey and Kathleen Balogh for all of their hard work in organizing the rally and to all of the other PPC families that pitched in to make it a very successful day!
On a separate note: many visitors had a lot of nice things to say about the improvements to the field over the last year.

Several members of Potomac PC went up to Fair Hill to compete in an American Polocrosse Association tournament (29/30 August). This was a 2 day competition organised by Bay Area Polocrosse, the APA club to which John and Lizzie C. both belong, which is based in Upper Marlboro. Brian K, Emily B. and Nick B. played in the novice (D division) and on their first outing won convincingly. It was difficult to believe that they had not had the opportunity to play a full match before! Emily was riding Millie to such good effect that they got the Best Pony award in their Division! John and Lizzie C. played in the B division, with a player from Pennsylvania as the number 2 in their section, and their team also won their division! Ashleigh S., who was a Potomac member last year, also came up and played against the Capitals (our team) and played really well on a strange horse. She was definitely the biggest threat to the Capitals and we hope she goes on coming to our practices so we can all sharpen up our skills! All concerned seem to have had a good time, even Brian, who managed to sit 3 of Krackle's bucks before the 4th one tipped him off! Unfortunately he re-injured some scrapes he got from his dirt bike or I'm sure he'd have been right back in the fray. We had several comments from others on the quality of the play by the Capitals and on what great kids they were, so well done all of you!
